Scope and Contents This collection covers the time period during B.B. Davis’ life in the Philippines in the 1930s to mid-1940s. The majority of the collection contains correspondence between B.B. Davis and his wife to family and friends living in and around Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, MI, in particular Areta Williams Hibbard. Scope and Contents

The collection contains an envelope and one letter written by Dr. George C. Palmer in Kalamazoo, Michigan in October of 1866 to his brother Alonzo A. Palmer living in Pendleton Hill, Connecticut.

Dr. Palmer writes about his health and requesting a weekly letter reporting his condition. He writes that his brother has pulmonary weakness and is thinking to advise him to travel west. He also reports his own health is good.

The collection contains one letter dated November 13, 1864 by Civil War soldier Jacob Hampton (1847-1929) from Pavilion, Michigan while enlisted in the First Regiment Michigan Engineers and Mechanics and addressed to his sister while stationed in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the letter, he discusses daily life and reports on Confederate troop movements.
